Ryan Devries is a young, energetic individual who has been involved with his local community his entire life. Born, raised and growing up in Milton beside the fairgrounds, he is no stranger to its growth, and observed over the years the increased volume of people attending the events. His desire and drive to positively impact his community started at a young age.

While attending primary and secondary school, Ryan was involved with the Milton Youth Advisory Committee. Here, he participated with other youth in voicing their concerns about the local community and passing on their recommendations to the Committee. During this time, Ryan also sat on the Halton Student Senate where he discussed with other students the Halton District School Board and issues surrounding their education. While in secondary school, Ryan volunteered with Erinoak Kids regionally assisting in therapeutic camps for children. At this point, Ryan found a love for public service. While attending Milton District High School, Ryan also had the opportunity to further expand his views as a global citizen by travelling abroad. He studied and volunteered in Europe, China, Thailand, Bhutan, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, greatly developing his cross cultural communication skills. It was through these experiences, that Ryan's passions grew towards creating a positive change for his community. Milton's small town culture grew on him, and he loved it.

Ryan wants to use his tremendous community talents to work on behalf of the residents and voters of Ward 2.

When it came time to choose a post-secondary institution, Ryan was very selective. Knowing that the university atmosphere was theoretical at its base, Ryan preferred to apply his knowledge towards real life scenarios instead. Thus, he found and enrolled in Sheridan College's Bachelors of Business Administration in Global Business Management. After excelling in his first year of study, Ryan joined Enactus Sheridan. Enactus is a global community of student, academic and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better more sustainable world (Enactus, 2014). At Enactus Sheridan, he quickly moved up the ranks from being a general member to a research and development analyst, junior to a project lead, presentation team member up to his current position of Vice President of Enactus Sheridan. Presently, Ryan is also working as a Customer Service Representative at TD Canada Trust.

Through all of Ryan's experiences studying abroad, giving input on the Milton Youth Advisory Council, or managing Enactus Sheridan, his passion has always remained to make positive change for those around him. He grew up in Milton, and wants to see the Town and its heritage remain sustainable. He loves the people, the places and personality of the Town of Milton. He believes in turning ideas into action, and wants to hear yours. Ryan hopes by running for local councillor for Ward 2 that he will be able to give back to the community that raised him by giving the Town of Milton a prosperous future.
